Use cases
Mortgage and loan tracking on your balance sheet
Loans are half of net worth. Add the balance, update it when a statement arrives, and your net worth stays right.
Balance in, balance updated
Add the loan with today's balance. When it changes, type the new number, or add or subtract the difference.
Your history
Each update is kept in the account's history, so you can see how the balance moved and fix an entry later.
In any currency
A loan can be in a foreign currency. It counts toward your total at the latest exchange rate, in the currency you choose to see everything in.
Questions
Does Accounted calculate my mortgage payment or payoff date?
Not in version 1. A mortgage is an account with a balance, which you update yourself. Accounted doesn't work out payments or a payoff date.
Do I have to update my mortgage balance every month?
Yes, when you want it current. Type the new balance from your statement, or subtract what you paid. It takes a few seconds.
Can I see my debt ratio?
Yes. The liabilities column shows each debt's share of your assets, so the liabilities total is your debt ratio.
