Frequently asked questions

What is Accounted?

Accounted is a net worth tracker for iPhone. It puts everything you own and owe on one balance sheet, drawn to scale, so you always know where you stand. Stocks, funds, crypto and precious metals price themselves.

Do I need to link my bank?

No. Accounted never asks for a bank login, and there's no sign-up. You enter each account's balance, and Accounted keeps prices and exchange rates current.

What's the difference between a net worth tracker and a budget app?

A budget app follows money in and out: spending, categories, limits. A net worth tracker shows where you stand: what you own minus what you owe. Accounted is only a net worth tracker. It has no spending log and no budgets.

Which prices update automatically?

Stocks and ETFs on US exchanges (Nasdaq, NYSE, NYSE Arca, Cboe) and 45+ others, Taiwan stocks and funds, crypto, and gold, silver, platinum and palladium, plus the exchange rates between currencies.

Are the prices real-time?

No. Stocks, ETFs, crypto, precious metals and exchange rates are refreshed hourly and may be delayed or wrong, and Taiwan funds use the latest published NAV, which is daily. That's the right pace for a balance sheet; Accounted isn't a trading app.

Where is my data stored?

Your balances, account names and history stay on your iPhone and in your own iCloud, where we can't see them. To look up prices, Accounted sends only the symbols you hold to its price server, never how many you own or what they're worth. The privacy policy has the details.

What happens if I delete the app or change phones?

Signed in to iCloud, your balance sheet stays in your iCloud: reinstall the app, or set up a new iPhone with the same Apple Account, and it comes back. Without iCloud it's kept on the iPhone only, so deleting the app deletes it.

How does Accounted handle a mortgage?

Add it with its current balance. It sits in the liabilities column, and you update the balance when it changes. Accounted doesn't calculate payments or a payoff date in version 1.

Can I use more than one currency?

Yes. Each account keeps its own currency, and totals are shown in the currency you choose, converted at the latest rate.

Does Accounted track my stocks and ETFs?

Yes. Stocks and ETFs on Nasdaq, NYSE, NYSE Arca, Cboe and 45+ other exchanges are priced automatically, so you only enter the number of shares. Mutual funds and retirement accounts are added with a balance you type yourself.

Which devices does it run on?

iPhone, with iOS 18 or later. There's no iPad, Mac, Android or web version.

Can I see how my net worth has changed?

Yes. The Trends tab shows your net worth and each kind of account over a month, a year or any range you pick, from the day you add your first account.

Does Accounted back up my data?

Yes. Besides syncing over iCloud, Accounted makes a backup every week and keeps the last three, and you can make up to three more yourself. Restore one in the app's Settings > iCloud.

Can I share my balance sheet with someone?

You can share a picture of it, with the amounts or account names hidden if you like. The balance sheet itself isn't shared: Accounted is for one person, on their own iPhones.

Does Accounted give financial advice?

No. It shows what you own and owe and keeps the numbers current. It doesn't recommend investments or tell you what to do with your money.

How much does it cost?

Accounted is free for up to 10 accounts, with every feature. Accounted Pro removes the limit, as a monthly or yearly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase, or as a Family plan for up to 6 people. The pricing page lists the prices.

Who makes Accounted?

TechTech, Charles Tseng's one-person app studio, which also makes Atomic Learning and deja.
